The department offers four undergraduate degrees: A BFA with Emphasis in Acting for Stage & Screen, Design & Theatre Production, Film Production, and a BA in Theatre Arts. We offer a minor in Theatre Arts and training in dance and we support the college's interdisciplinary cinema minor. Our degree programs are accredited by NAST (The National Association of Schools of Theatre). We offer a comprehensive catalog of courses, from Acting for the Screen to Musical Theatre History to Lighting Design.
Students do not need to audition for entry into the department. The BA in Theatre Arts is open to all university students. Enrollment in the BFA degree programs are by audition/invitation. BFA Acting for the Stage & Screen students audition for entry into the program in the spring prior to their first year or the weekend prior to their first fall semester. Students wishing to pursue the BFA in Film Production should review the application procedure.
Students may opt to pursue the BFA in Design & Theatre Production at any time. Portfolio reviews are held at the end of each semester to ensure that all Design & Theatre Production BFA candidates are progressing at a satisfactory rate. Success in this review is necessary for continued study in the BFA Design & Theatre Production program.
