Costume Shop Manager
Mary Ball, formerly known as Gietzen, is excited to be the Costume Shop Manager for the Ole Miss Theatre and Film Department.
She received her MFA in Costume Design, at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. This is where her love of running a shop was born. During this time she learned that working with the students to discover their passion made her journey much more rewarding. She enjoyed teaching them the basic techniques needed to create!
After receiving her MFA, Mary set out to become a Costume Shop Manager and found herself at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, MI. During her time there she not only worked with the students to help them learn and hone their love of the costume craft but she converted some non-costume majors into costume artisans.
She is super excited to be part of the Ole Miss team. Mary and her costume colleagues create a world of learning in the shop so when the students leave they can feel confident about their experience.
She loves and desires to learn as many new costuming techniques as she can to help further students' development while opening them up to a whole world of possibilities . Her interests include draping, flat patterning, tailoring and so much more. You can never learn too much.
