Jordan Smith

Administrative Assistant to the Chair

Since 2013, Jordan Smith has been the Administrative Assistant to the Chair of the Department of Theatre & Film at the University of Mississippi. Jordan was born and raised in Southern Idaho, moved to Walla Walla, Washington; Portland, Oregon; South Bend, Indiana; and ultimately settled in Oxford, Mississippi. He studied History (BA) at Boise State University, and has previously worked for Whitman College, Oregon Health Science University, and the University of Notre Dame in a variety of capacities. He has also volunteered for the Idaho State Historical Society and the South Bend Preservation Commission.

Jordan is an avid collector of paper ephemera and, since 2008, has shared his collection online as Cardboard America™. Images from his collection have been used in countless books, magazines and more than two dozen documentaries including Ken Burns’ Jackie Robinson.  His postcard collection was highlighted in the September 2015 of O, The Oprah Magazine as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things and his collection of CB Radio QSL Cards was featured at the 2016 Seattle Art Fair. He is a member of The Ephemera Society of America and the Society for American Baseball Research. He spends what little free time he has left with his wife, Erin and his animals.

Jordan is eternally grateful for the opportunity afforded him by the Department of Theatre & Film to continue and has been thrilled to watch this department grow over the years.
